Towns are governed by the town council, which exercises the legislative function of the town and acts as the town executive. Dillsboro currently has a five (5) member Council. The general powers of the council are governed by state laws, the methods through which the powers exercised are left largely to the council to determine by ordinance.
Currently, the Town Council meets at 6:00 PM, every second Monday of the month at Dillsboro Town Hall, 13030 Executive Drive, Dillsboro, IN, 47018.
Council Districts
The Town of Dillsboro is divided into 4 districts. All residents elect one council member from each district and one member "At Large". The Dillsboro Town Council Members and the Clerk-Treasurer are elected for four year terms, which elections for office result in staggered terms with two council members being elected in a year in which a primary and general election are held and three council members and the Clerk-Treasurer being elected in a year in which non-general elections are held.
