Cheryl Dalton opened “Hair Lines” with partners, Leatha Tudor and Scarlet Hudson, on December 5th 1988. Theresa Bockhorst joined the team to complete the foursome. Soon after, Scarlet pursued another path and Kelly Barrett joined the group while Leatha took off to other adventures.
Over the years the fourth chair has been occupied by many others with their own sets of talents: Bonny Wedding, Andrea Sneed, Amy Caldwell and currently, Jenny Meador, Amy Barrett, Sarah (Strassel) Teer and Kelsey (Laker) Smith. Also, in recent years we added massage therapists Tracey Burress and Shannon Bogenrief.
Cheryl and Team have shared the lives of many people...first hair cuts, school programs, proms, weddings and birthdays...just the everyday business called life. She has seen the world of Dillsboro through the window...the “buck” walking down the street, the motorcycle pulling the guy in a wheelchair, the boys that you know fighting on their way home from school...so what do you do?....chase them home with a pair of scissors in your hand?...oh, the memories. Cheryl’s favorite is the on of Mabel Long in rollers under the hair dryer and Cheryl’s daughter, Emily, in a booster seat under the next dryer, both with magazines, even though Emy could not read yet at the age of three.
Cheryl moved to Dillsboro at the age of nineteen. After moving away for a few short years, she moved back because she missed Dillsboro! And she has been here ever since. She has forged lifelong friendships through her business and has been able to live, work and raise her children in a close-knit community.
What a business legacy! Stop in on Wednesday the 5th and wish Cheryl a Happy 30th Anniversary. She and her Team will share a glass in celebration from 6-8 PM. In addition, Cheryl will be giving away a $100 Gift Certificate to Hairlines and also $100 to the Dillsboro Organization of the winner’s choice. What a generous way to celebrate and give back for 30 years in Dillsboro.
